Playfulness and creativity in dancing (workshop by Ana & Miljan)

 A primal invitation to movement

What was the very first and primal invitation to movement and dancing when we were still children? Most often it is pure joy of moving, usually reacting to some music or just playing through movement and dancing, exploring our body. Can you still remember that feeling? It is a really natural and free way of moving. That is a primal invitation to movement and that feeling is usually a driving force, reason why we went into dancing later on and why we continue dancing and return to movement every single time. It is this freedom, those roots, this joy … It is almost indescribable, it just is, once you feel it, you know it and feeling can get even deeper and freer.

Did we keep that feeling? Do we allow it to still live inside of us, to move us? Do we still allow to feel that pure joy and freedom of moving and dancing? What stops us from feeling that? Many things can stop us, and usually we are not even aware of what that is. One day we can just realize we lost it. But then we may see someone moving so purely so freely, or we experience a short moment of that pure joy in dancing and we remember. We get that slight perception and realize that it is still inside of us. We never really lost it, we just forgot it. It is time to remember and it is possible to live it, dance it, breathe it.

How can we awaken our inner child to freely dance, play and move again? One way is through becoming aware of all the barriers we have created in order to feel “safe”, by accepting them and slowly letting them go. In that way we create more space for inner child to become free again. For that we need patience, love, nurturing and trust, so that inner child will feel save. Than our creativity become alive, we are free to sense, feel and express. We surrender and ego no longer has a need of control and of understanding everything. We open ourselves to new possibilities in dancing and in life.

Through this workshop we will search, find and experience creative ways of playfulness in dancing. Slowly, through compassion, acceptance and care, we will create safe space for our inner child to set free. Music, movement, inner research and art will help us to awaken our true colors and joy. Sometimes this process is light, sometimes it can be painful, and this is something we can’t really know, but we can accept that and make it easier. Support of the group, acceptance, holding safe space for each other and all the relations that grow inside of a group, can also help us a lot to open up and bloom.

Workshop is open for everyone who feel, this can be a supportive way of growing as a person and as a mover, dancer, artist, teacher, choreographer …

Ana Jurenec
She is interested in connection between movement, dancing, music and psychology. By being a dancer and a psychologist, open doors for her to invite people into the world of moving and feeling beyond visible. She is helping people to gradually accept themselves more and more, which allow them to freely be and express through movement. In that way movement and dancing can become a healing process and the other way around: psychological healing can become a creative process and product. “What moves us?” is for her an infinitive question that opens new fields, within which she is always surprised of all the stories that our bodies hold. Those stories emerge inside of us as gifts, offered as a possibility to express them.

Miljan Nojić
Trough different styles of dancing he started to connect knowledge, experiences and theories. He seeks inspiration in many different areas, such as musicology, psychology, history, physics and others. He combines all that knowledge in order to get a better understanding of the movement, its origins, expressional values, rhythmical structures and other aspects. Trough creative ways of approaching the dance, he helps dancers to allow themselves find their own ideas, feelings, emotions and natural body reactions. Those reactions can be indicated from within us (by feelings, impulses, sensations, thoughts, images in our mind, memories …) or from outside (by the music, dance partner, other dancers and variety of things from environment).
